Antimicrobial & Antibacterial Additives for Paper & Packaging
The Biomaster range of Antimicrobial & antibacterial additives can be easily used to treat paper through either wet end or size press application. Recent health statistics have shown that bacteria including MRSA can remain viable on paper, including sterile packs for 38 weeks. Paper is used in many applications where cross infection is a real issue:
Healthcare
Paper is used extensively in a hospital environment where bacteria are prevalent. Documents are passed from hand to hand after patient interaction and put into storage, an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and then these can easily be transferred back to patients. Case note folders are an ideal application for Biomaster Antimicrobial & antibacterial paper additives.
Food Packaging
In kitchen areas where food is handled by hand, bacteria from raw ingredients can easily be transferred onto food packaging and put back into storage without a second thought. Packaging treated with Biomaster Antimicrobial & antibacterial additives will prevent the growth of bacteria on its surface preventing cross contamination.
Sterile Packs
Passed from hand to hand and normally in storage for large periods of time, Biomaster treated packs will prevent the growth of bacteria while in storage and also limit growth on adjacent material.
In durability tests the active content of Biomaster Antimicrobial & antibacterial additives was shown to last for the lifetime of the paper. The Biomaster additive is suitable for any paper application including card and carbonless paper.
Biomaster has been tested against over 50 bacteria in over 2000 applications normally achieving a 99.99% reduction. Due to the efficacy of Biomaster Antimicrobial & antibacterial additives only a very small addition level is required ensuring a very cost application.
