The eBay Award for the Samll Business with Big Potential went to Addmaster, which provides compounds and additives for the polymer industry
The Staffordshire based company, launched four years ago by Paul Morris, a self taught chemist, has annual sales of £2 million and employs nine staff.
Innovations include the discovery of an additive that can be used to combat the hospital superbug MRSA.
"Winning this award is fantastic recognition for our company at a very excitign stage in its development," Morris said. "The breakthrough in combating MRSA shows the crucial role small businesses can play in the UK and we hope other small firms are encouraged by our success."
